5 Tips to Avoid Holiday Scams

As the holiday season approaches, we are seeing a rise in scams, particularly involving e-transfer and other fraudulent activities.  At Shinhan Bank Canada, your security is our top priority, and we want to help you stay safe during this time.

 

[ Protect Yourself with These Tips ]

1. Use secure passwords and update them regularly

  • Use strong, unique paswords for your online banking and other financial accounts
  • Avoid reusing old passwords, update them regularly, and use a different password for each account

2. Use secure online channels

  • Only use trusted websites and be conscious about what you share online
  • Avoid using public Wi-Fi for banking

3. Be cautious with email transfers

  • Always verify the recipient before sending any funds
  • Avoid transferring money to unfamiliar or unexpected requests

4. Stay alert for phishing scams

  • Do not click on suspicious links or attachments
  • When in doubt, contact us directly using verified contact information

5. Monitor your accounts

  • Check your accounts regularly for unauthorized activity
